What is Apple TV? No, it’s not an actual flat screen HDTV made by Apple. Thats what I had first thought when I heard about Apple TV. It’s actually a digital media player and a microconsole developed and sold by Apple Inc. It is a small network appliance and entertainment device that can receive digital data from a number of sources and stream it to a capable TV for playing on the TV screen. All you need is a TV with an HDMI output, Apple TV, and an HDMI cable cord to connect your Apple TV to your TV. Then BOOM you’re in business.
Now to the features that the Apple TV has. The first feature that was really amazing to me was being able to mirror your iPhone to your Apple TV, then being displayed on your actual TV. This feature only works if you have an Apple device (iPhone, iPod, or iPad).
You can also stream Netflix, Youtube, Hulu, HBO GO, Showtime, and many more. The only way to stream tv shows and movies on HBO GO, History Channel, Showtime, National Geographic Channel, etc., is you need to sign up and become a member. Sometimes you can stream some TV shows, but it’s very limited. Not only can you stream those appliances, you can also stream the sports channel. From NFL, MLB, NBA, and the many other sports that are out there.
Since its an Apple device you can also purchase and download other apps, music, and even movies. Now I’ve only had Apple TV for a short time now, but in my opinion its an amazing device. Not only can you purchase, but you can also play your music that you’ve bought on your Apple TV.
