The Elite Controller – It’s not your typical, ordinary controller. This is the “Elite” and its name does not lie and the price is definitely worth the reward that comes with the purchase. At a retail price of $150, you can get your hands on one of these bad boys – once they restock. This piece of art is only available in stores for days at a time as Microsoft’s productivity can’t keep up with the consumption. Matter of fact, it has been sold out all across the United States for months and the only way to get one is from a lucky location. Luckily for me, I got in touch with one of these bad boys when Microsoft sent me one in a care package. Now, let’s get into the details of this magnificent controller!

Xbox Elite Accessories

Everything in the photo above is what comes with the controller at the price of $150. What are they and do you need them?

  • Xbox Elite Wireless Controller
  • Carrying Case
  • Set of 4 Paddles (2 Long, 2 Short)
  • Set of 6 Thumbsticks: Standard (2), Tall (2), Tall Domed (2)
  • USB Cable
  • Pair of AA Batteries
  • Quick Setup Guide and Product Manual

As you can see, they make sure that you are able to find exactly what you want in a controller with all these new features. Everything seen above is easily attachable/detachable making it very convenient.Xbox Elite Remapping

The controller itself also has features that no other default controller from any other console comes with, custom button remapping (as seen above). You can customize each button/paddle to satisfy each game that you play with and the controller itself even comes with 2 presets so the user can easily change button mapping faster than they can switch the games itself.

The triggers of the controller itself also comes with trigger stops which can save the user priceless time when pulling either of the triggers. For those of you who are less experienced with console gaming and its controllers, the split second difference between how fast the user pulls the trigger can be the main factor on whether or not the user lives or dies. The paddles are also very convenient because you are able to see which paddle you like best and where you like them the most. Whether it be the small one on the left, the big one on the right or even all of them, the preference is completely up to you! The paddles are used to map buttons or even bumpers on the controller to fully fit the liking of the user. The purpose of them is so that users do not have to take their thumbs off of the bumper or the analog sticks to press the button which in the end, gives a fair and approved advantage for the user. Will other people call you cheaters for having these features that they don’t? Probably but these controllers are tournament approved by most if not every tournament hosts. Along with these features, it also comes with very good grip that is very useful for those long gaming sessions. So what do you think? Here are my concluding opinions.

  • Feels great in-hand; very grippy finish throughout
  • Loads of customization options
  • Mature, understated design
  • Improves on the standard Xbox One gamepad in every way
  • Bumper buttons are finally, actually usable
  • Expensive
  • Levers and faceted d-pad don’t feel secure
  • Feels heavy at first
  • Clamshell case doesn’t keep everything in place
  • Customization options could be overwhelming for someDenial Scuf

The controller is well worth the price for the players who are determined on gaining an edge against their competitors. Though it is expensive, you have to invest and chances make champions. I say this because this was the controller that I was using when I won my first championship. If you are not interested or would rather not spend $150 just to get a leg up on your opponents online, also known as a casual gamer, then I would recommend getting the basic controller which sells for the retail price of $60. Though, if you are interested on getting an upper hand on the players you play online and would rather spend $100-$130, then I would recommend getting a scuf controller on their website, and use code “Denial” for 5% off!
