Hello there fellow Green Day fans! So, you’re here to see what the top five Green Day songs are — I mean, that’s why you’re here, right? Let’s get started on the top five Green Day songs.

1. GOOD RIDDANCE (TIME OF YOUR LIFE)

Lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong wrote this when his girlfriend moved to Ecuador. He tried to be even-tempered about it, but to show his anger, he named the song “Good Riddance” and made “Time Of Your Life” the subtitle.

2. BOULEVARD OF BROKEN DREAMS

The song is about the separation and the understanding that the American Dream can let you down.

3. BASKET CASE

The song is about anxiety attacks and a feeling that you are going crazy. Lead singer, Billie Joe Armstrong, suffered from panic disorders while he was growing up. He would sometimes wake up in the middle of the night with a panic attack and walk around his neighborhood to settle down.

4. WHATSERNAME

The song follows the story of Jesus Of Suburbia. After being home, and just living in normality, he still regrets losing Whatsername. It’s been so long, he can’t even remember her name. He wonders what happened to her, all he has is his memories of her. The album ends with him still trying to forget. “If my memory serves me right, I’ll never turn back time, forgetting you, but not the time.” He doesn’t regret living his life on the streets, using it as a learning experience, but still tries to forget Whatsername, the pain that she put him through, and vice versa.

5. WAKE ME UP WHEN SEPTEMBER ENDS

Green Day lead singer, Billie Joe Armstrong, wrote this song about his father, who died of cancer on September 1, 1982. At his father’s funeral Billie ran home crying and locked himself in his room. When his mother got home and knocked on the door of Billie’s room, he said to his mom, “Wake me up when September ends,” hence the title.

Well those are our top five Green Day song’s. If you don’t agree with this list, comment what you think are the top five.
